About CAC

Carnelian Arts Collective was created to provide a safe and empowering space for Adult (18+) artists and creatives. We welcome all kinds of creators and makers that meet our age requirement and:
* Identify as LGBTQIA+/Queer
* Live in Massachusetts or a bordering state (CT, NH, RI, etc)
* Are comfortable completing a short interview and application process to join

FAQ

How can I become a member of Carnelian Arts Collective?

You can join by submitting an application through our website. A member of the collective will reach out to you to conduct a short interview to make sure you understand and are comfortable with the group rules and guidelines. You must also qualify under the following criteria: Over 18, Creator/maker of some kind, in MA or a touching/adjacent state, and identify as LGBTQIA+/Queer or similar.

What types of events does the collective host?

Currently, we are a relatively new organization and are only focused on hosting in person and online socialization/co-working events at this time. We have plans to eventually host Skill building/Skill share workshops, art/vendor markets, and similar events.

What does CAC do?

CAC does a few things! Most notably we:

Have an active discord server where members can share WIPs (works in progress), engage in art discussions, and connect with like-minded creatives.
Share resources and local opportunities to further your art career or hobby.
Meet monthly in person and online to socialize, discuss opportunities in the community, plan projects, co-work, and have fun!
Network and skill share with each other.
Eat tasty food!

What kinds of projects to CAC members work on?

Many of our members are writers, artists, cartoonists, vendors, crafters, performers, entertainers, poets, and other kinds of creators. As a group, it is our goal to eventually launch our own “zine” or “lit mag” style publication where we showcase member’s works.

Is there a membership fee?

Membership is currently free, but some events may have a small participation cost.

Where are events held?

Our group is based in the Greater Boston Area. Currently, we primarily meet in Somerville, MA.

Can I collaborate with other members?

Yes, we encourage collaboration and provide opportunities to connect creators.

What if I’m new to this/not sure if I’m a “real” artist?

We accept all experience levels and are happy to support our peers.
